Fed’s Daly says US central bank still needs to get inflation down

Feb 17 (Reuters) – San Francisco Federal Reserve President Mary Daly on Tuesday said the U.S. central bank still needs to get inflation down, and that while artificial intelligence potentially helps in that regard, the Fed’s modestly or slightly restrictive policy is also important to making that happen.

“We need to get inflation down and we need to make sure that it’s on a good path,” Daly said at an event at San Jose State University, adding that the Fed also needs to make sure that labor market vulnerabilities  — like the narrow range of industries that account for most of current US job creation don’t turn into labor market fragilities.
