NEW YORK (Reuters) – JPMorgan Chase named Curtis Reed on Tuesday as chief of the largest U.S. lender’s government banking and healthcare, higher education and not-for-profit banking businesses.

Reed, a two-decade veteran of the bank, most recently served as manager for middle market banking in the Chicago region. He will report to Melissa Smith, head of specialized industries for commercial banking.

For the group overseen by Reed, JPMorgan named Brian Page to run government banking and Melissa Bastan to lead healthcare alongside banking for higher education and not-for-profits.

The business lends to state and local governments, school districts, transit authorities, hospitals and not-for-profit organizations across the United States. JPMorgan extended $6 billion in credit to such institutions in 2023, it said.

The bank posted a record annual profit in 2024 as its dealmakers and traders reaped a windfall from rebounding markets in the fourth quarter. Its commercial and investment banking revenue also climbed to a record last year.
